What we do

Types of work: general renovation

Slab being poured after demolitionType 01 · General renovation

From start to finish

Many projects need several trades in a row: demolish, prepare, pour, repair, finish. When each step goes to a different contractor, delays add up and no one answers for the whole job. With Dahomey Construction, demolition, preparation and rebuilding are done by the same team, and one point of contact follows your project from start to finish.

Stairs, porches and entrances

Crumbling concrete stairs, a cracked porch or an entrance to redo: we demolish the old structure, prepare the base and rebuild in concrete poured on site, with even steps and a non-slip surface. Railings and connections with the door and sidewalk are planned so the whole is clean and safe.

Basements and concrete floors

A basement renovation starts by removing what is damaged: finishes, partitions, flooring. We demolish, repair foundation cracks, redo or level the concrete slab if needed, then prepare the space for the finishing work. We coordinate the trades that follow so the work moves along.

After water damage

After a leak or water damage, the wet materials have to come out, the source of the water must be found and the cause fixed before redoing the finishes. We demolish what needs to go, repair the foundation or slab, and prepare the space for rebuilding, so the new finishes go on a sound, dry base that will not cause the same damage again.

Type 05

Commercial spaces

Restaurants, offices and stores: a refit starts by emptying the space, then redoing the concrete surfaces and structural elements that need it. We plan the job around your opening hours and neighbours, and coordinate the steps to free up the space on the planned date.

Our approach

One person responsible for the whole project

01.

A renovation that passes between several contractors loses time at every change of team, and problems often fall between two responsibilities.

02.

At Dahomey Construction, the same team demolishes, prepares and rebuilds. Alex follows the job site and remains your contact, from the first visit to the final walk-through.

03.

When a project needs trades we do not do ourselves, such as plumbing or electrical work, we coordinate them with qualified companies so the work moves along without waiting.

04.

We work on houses, plexes and commercial spaces in Montreal, Laval and the West Island. Every job starts with a visit, continues with a written quote describing the steps, and ends with a walk-through done with you, so nothing is left to chance and you always know where the job stands.

Frequently asked questions

How much does a general renovation cost?

The price depends on the size of the project, the materials and the trades to coordinate. We prepare a detailed quote after the visit.

Do you do plumbing and electrical work?

These trades are handled by qualified companies that we coordinate, so the work moves along without you having to manage several contractors.

Can you do only the demolition?

Yes. We can do only the demolition, or the demolition and the rebuilding, depending on your project.

Do you work for businesses?

Yes. We do work in commercial spaces, planning the job around your opening hours.

How long does a renovation take?

It depends on the size of the project, the demolition needed and the trades to coordinate. The schedule is discussed with you and set out in the quote, step by step, so you know when each part will be finished.

What if a problem is found during demolition?

We show you what we found and explain the options and their cost before going further. Nothing is added to the quote without your approval. A crack, moisture or an old repair to redo is often discovered during demolition.

Can you redo only the stairs or the porch?

Yes. Stairs, a porch or an entrance can be demolished and rebuilt on their own, with no other work. We pour the concrete on site and handle the connections with the door and sidewalk.

Do I need a permit for this work in Montreal?

It depends on the work and the borough. Many exterior projects require a permit from the borough. We check with you what applies before we start and tell you what steps to take.

Do you hold an RBQ licence?

Yes. Dahomey Construction holds RBQ licence 5825-5522-01. You can check it in the public registry of the Régie du bâtiment du Québec before the work starts.

How do I get a quote?

Fill out the form with a short description and a few photos of your project, or call us at (438) 544-0016. We book a visit to see the site, then we give you a written quote.
